Putnam Science Too Much for Boys Varsity Soccer

Hyde – 2
PSA – 7

In a rematch from earlier in the season, Hyde hosted PSA on Wednesday afternoon.  The first time these two teams met the game ended in a 2-2 draw, but PSA came out on top this time around.  Their potent attack was too much for Hyde’s defense to handle as they scored three goals in the first 15 minutes.  PSA added two more before halftime to make the score 5-0.  Led by midfielders Alex Armstead ’11 and Jamal Borden ’13, Hyde came out with much more intensity the second half. Borden put Hyde on the scoreboard in the 46’ minute, assisted by Leo Shan ’11.  Late in the game, Borden ’13 converted a penalty kick when Wesley Freston ‘11 was taken down in the box.  The defense played much better in the second half, limiting PSA to two goals. The phoenix had several scoring chances late in the game, but could not convert and fell to PSA 2-7.  Man of the match went to Alex Armstead ‘11 for his tireless work ethic.
