Hyde – 3
Gould – 0
In their second conference match, Hyde traveled to Bethel to play Gould Academy on Saturday afternoon. On a picturesque fall afternoon, Hyde beat Gould 3-0 in a physical game. Jamal Borden ‘13 continued his scoring streak when he converted a Juno Ra ’11 cross twenty-four minutes into the game. The defense which consisted of Wiley Fresne ’12, Nat Abernethy ’11, Brendan Trometer ’11 and Alex Biedermann ‘11 kept Gould’s offense in check throughout the game. Offensively, Borden did an outstanding job distributing the ball through the midfield and setting his teammates up for scoring opportunities. In the second half, Leo Shan ‘11 found himself in the right position on a corner kick and put in a loose ball from 12 yards out. Borden ‘13 closed out the scoring for Hyde when he struck a laser from 25 yards out that deflected off the keeper and into the net. Borden ‘13 earned Man of the match honors for his impressive play. Alec Randall ’12 recorded a shutout and finished the game with 12 saves. Hyde improved their record to 3-2-2 and 2-0 in MAISAD play. In their next game, the Phoenix will host Hebron Academy on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00PM.
