Tough Loss to Rocky HIll for Boys Varsity Soccer

September 15, 2010

Rocky Hill – 3
Hyde – Woodstock – 1

With the starting line-up decimated with injuries, a bumped and bruised Hyde Wolfpack fell to a gritty Rocky Hill squad 3-1 on a beautiful day in East Greenwich, RI.  The Wolfpack got off to a rough start as Rocky Hill jumped out to a 2-0 lead just seven minutes into the match due to a few defensive lapses.  The offense was bolstered by Wolfpack forward Henry Killeen ’11, who kept the Rocky Hill defense on its toes throughout the day.  Hyde marking back Ethan Thoms ’12 did a tremendous job shutting down Rocky Hill’s talented right forward for the duration of the afternoon.  Heading into halftime down by two, the Wolfpack put up a valiant fight in the second frame.  Henry Killeen put the Wolfpack on the scoreboard with twenty minutes left in the match when he struck a free kick from twenty yards out into the top left corner of the goal past the sprawling Rocky Hill keeper.  Unfortunately, however, the Wolfpack could not find the equalizer and fell in its season opener 3-1.

The Wolfpack hosts its first home match of the season this upcoming Saturday, September 18 at 2pm against WNEPSSA foe MacDuffie School.  The Wolfpack are currently 0-1.
