Boarding Students

At Hyde, where you sleep matters. Not because our dorms define you, but because living on campus is where the Hyde experience becomes real. It is where the student who has never been pushed finds out what they are made of, where friendships are built at 10 p.m. after a hard practice, and where faculty are not just teachers but neighbors.

Hyde's boarding program enrolls students in grades 9 through Postgraduate from 18 states and 16 countries. Traditional learners, driven athletes, students who have underperformed elsewhere, first-generation scholars, and young people who simply want more than their previous school offered all find their place here.

Life on Campus

Hyde's residential program is structured by design. Students live in dorms supervised by resident faculty who are active participants in the community, not monitors. The daily schedule moves from morning meeting through classes, afternoon athletics, evening programming, and supervised study hall. Weekends bring community service, outdoor excursions, cultural trips, and the occasional ski day at Sugarloaf. There is very little downtime that is not intentional. That is the point.

Three Seasons of Competition

Every Hyde student is a student-athlete, regardless of prior athletic experience. All students participate in three seasons of competitive sports. We believe that being part of a team is not optional because the lessons learned on the field, the commitment, the resilience, the ability to compete with grace and lose with dignity, are lessons we want every student to carry forward. Our coaching staff works with the full range of athletic backgrounds, and our teams compete at a high level across the state.

Advanced College Advising and Placement

Hyde's college counseling team works closely with each student and family from the junior year forward. We do not run a one-size-fits-all process. We take time to understand what each student genuinely wants from their college experience and help them identify schools where they will thrive, not just be admitted. Hyde graduates matriculate to a wide range of colleges and universities, and they arrive prepared.

Newly Expanded Learning Support Center

Hyde's Learning Connections Center provides targeted academic support in reading, writing, mathematics, organization, and study skills. The goal is not remediation; it is building the academic confidence every student needs to perform at their best in college and beyond. Learning Connections support is available as an optional add-on to the base program.

Student Leadership

Hyde has a long history of giving students real responsibility. The Wolfpack Council composed of student leaders and faculty, shapes the direction of academic and residential life at the school. This is not a student council in name only; it is a working partnership. Hyde students learn to lead by actually leading, and that experience is one of the defining differences between a Hyde education and a traditional boarding school.

Postgraduate Year

Hyde offers a Postgraduate year for students who have completed high school and want an additional year of preparation before college. The PG year at Hyde is a full program experience, not a repeat of senior year. Students deepen their academic foundation, take on expanded leadership roles in the community, and approach the college process with greater clarity and confidence.
