Spanish 2 Presentations

I am Ruth Molina Gracia, one of the Spanish teachers at Hyde. Last week in Spanish 2, students worked on an exciting new project to practice the use of dates and the pretérito indefinido (past tense) through a timeline creation activity. Typically, we rely on Canva for digital projects, but this time, I introduced a new online tool, Genially, and the results were impressive!

The goal was to create a visually appealing timeline, and the students were immediately engaged with the new app. In just two days, they had crafted beautiful and detailed projects, many of which included personal touches such as family photos and images from their own lives. It was amazing to see how motivated they were, with many students even asking their family members for pictures or scrolling through their galleries.

As they worked on their timelines, I was able to support them with translation, helping them express what they wanted to say in Spanish. This project wasn’t just about creating a digital timeline—it was an opportunity for students to practice their language skills in a meaningful way, while learning to narrate past events with the pretérito indefinido.

The project was a great success, both in terms of language practice and student engagement. The students truly "locked in" to the task and showed great creativity in how they used the new tool. These projects were presented by each one of them to their classmates to learn about them and about their work. It’s always exciting to see students so immersed in their learning, and I look forward to more projects like this in the future!
