Public speaking kicks off at the Hyde School with the notorious prompt: “Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of our country”. The weekly school-wide course focuses on skills, techniques, body language, and attitudes that can increase confidence and assertiveness when it comes to owning one's voice. This exercise challenges students to get outside of their comfort zone and empower them to speak in front of the community. It is also a meaningful and pivotal icebreaker for the student body.  Public speaking sets students up for success in areas like academics, performing arts, and work-related situations. Each student’s voice was amplified beneath the chandelier this week, creating a more connected, committed, and courageous community.
