Photography and Graphic Design Digital Arts Show

The Photography and Graphic Design class spent the winter term tackling two major projects called Photo Re-Do: Revamping the Classics and Illuminated Moments, a portrait project. My students work diligently in both projects to develop their artistic eye and build confidence in new technologies and techniques.

Illuminated Moments asked students to work with light, composition, color, and much more to create a suite/series of work focusing on one subject matter.

Photo Re-Do: Revamping the Classics asked students to go back in time throughout the history here at Hyde School to find moments or places that they could create a reinterpretation an old photo at Hyde today, comparing an old photo vs. a new photo taken from the same spot, or a blending of the old and new. My students spent a lot of time combing through yearbooks and our photo archive to find the right photos that they could work with, given our winter weather. This project is one that we will come back to in the spring when the seasons change.

To wrap up the term, our class curated two digital walkthrough galleries for our school community, families, and anyone else to enjoy. Below are the links to both digital gallery spaces. These galleries are also available to view on the Hyde Arts page: https://www.hyde.edu/education/the-arts
