Hyde’s Music Performance class is a diverse group of students with a wide range of musical backgrounds, interests, and experiences. From beginners picking up instruments for the first time to seasoned vocalists refining their craft. The class is designed to help students grow as artists, encouraging them to take creative risks, build confidence, and connect through performance. Students develop not only their musical skills but also their courage to share their art publicly and their ability to collaborate across diverse perspectives.

Recently, the class had the privilege of welcoming guest artist Toni Kasza, an internationally recognized singer, songwriter, teacher, and vocal coach. Toni brought her wealth of experience and a deeply supportive approach to the classroom, leading a workshop on performance preparation and audience engagement. Students practiced techniques for commanding a stage presence, interpreting songs with authenticity, and connecting emotionally with listeners. 

Currently, the class is preparing for their next public performance at the Patten Public Library’s Starry Night Event on December 5th in downtown Bath. This community event provides students an opportunity to share their work beyond campus and to experience the joy of performing for a wider audience.

The upcoming performance, supported by their recent work with Toni Kasza, represents the culmination of a term spent developing skill, confidence, and community. For these young artists, Music Performance is more than a class,
