Fall brings us changing leaves and everything pumpkin spice, but, most importantly, it signals the beginning of the college application season for the class of 2024. This year, the College Office relocated to the second floor of the Mansion and has become a hub for the students to work and also connect with and support each other through the process.
The application season is always one filled with excitement and hopefulness, tinged with nervousness, as students begin to craft a vision for their future. This year, students have the opportunity to participate in College Workshop, a class period dedicated to working on their college applications. Students are guided through each step of the process from creating their list of prospective schools to writing college essays to completing the Common Application. Nikolai ‘24 explains that “College Workshop provides structure to go through the steps to get into college.” Others see it as a way to be held accountable and stay on top of their work.
In addition, Hyde is fortunate to welcome representatives from college campuses around the country who meet with our students. Some of the schools we are welcoming to campus this year include, among others, University of Vermont, Endicott College, Emerson College, University of Maine, and Wheaton College (MA).
Most importantly students like Baran ‘24 are “excited to see all my hard work pay off in the spring when I log onto my computer and see my acceptance letter!”
