As we wrapped up our winter term, there was lots to remember about how much we learned, how much we worked, and how much we connected as a community. Despite more snow and cold than Bath, Maine, has seen in a long time, we honored our theme of "Synergy," and our community became stronger as a result. Some of the highlights included:
- Mid-Year Reflection Project- Every student worked with their Discovery Groups and English classes to reflect on their growth and their vision for the future.
- Entrepreneurial Experiences - The Entre X cohort visited local business leaders and traveled to the Roux Institute in Portland to share their learning.
- Wrestling Excitement - From the first home meet in the Theater to the two New England Wrestling Tournaments Hyde hosted, everyone got involved in the process!
- Everyone Sang! - This term, we either sang a solo or a duet in front of the school or in our Discovery Group.
- Academic Awards - We acknowledged the students in each discipline who had grown or who had pursued academic excellence.
- I Have a Dream - MLK Day was an important moment for student leadership and community building.
- Inner Leadership Evaluations - Each student gave and received meaningful feedback from their peers in key areas.
- Alumni Scott Buell's visit - Scott spent the day sharing his professional and personal journey after Hyde.
- Hyde is Family School - From powerful on-campus workshops, webinars, and outdoor family trips to Lennox Lodge, parents and students enjoyed the synergy of learning together, and they also had a lot of fun!
- Exciting College News - With more to come, the acceptances that were rolling in had seniors and postgraduate students excited about their next steps. View Acceptances Here.
- Lunar New Year - The most important festival in Asian culture was celebrated on campus by students, faculty, and a visiting parent.
- Teaching Survival Skills - The outdoor leadership class spent two days teaching wilderness skills to students from another school.
- Lots of Fun - Ski trips, FIFA tournaments, Head's Holiday, Dodgeball, and Open Mic gatherings kept us together in the cold months.
- Government Class - Seniors worked on Mock Trials and argued Supreme Court cases.
- Swim Success - The small but mighty swim team consistently dropped their times, and one member qualified for the Maine State Championship Meet.
- Basketball and Hyde Strong - Our men's and women's basketball and Hyde Strong teams worked hard this term, and the JV Men's team brought home the MAISAD trophy.
- Friday Hot Cocoa - Chef Mo's Friday morning hot chocolate bar in the mansion was a welcome respite for all of us as we gathered to enjoy the treat and laugh together.
- School meetings and Public Speaking - We continued working on our public speaking skills and leaned into synergy during the many meaningful school meetings throughout the winter term.
