This past week, we welcomed families onto campus for Hyde's Spring Family Weekend. Along with many of the activities that most schools include, Hyde's traditions involve bringing together all of our community - families, students, and faculty - to create a shared learning atmosphere. A few highlights are:
-
Academic classes
-
Athletic contests
-
Family seminars
-
Panel discussions
-
Performing arts
Our theme for the weekend was "Integrity: Honesty is when my words match my deeds. Integrity is when my deeds match my words." During the Saturday morning community meeting, a panel of students, parents, and faculty responded to these prompts:
1. Who has modeled integrity in my life? What have I learned from them?
2. Who in my life has challenged and encouraged me to be my best? What have I learned from them?
Other highlights of the weekend were the men's and women's meetings. In these, both the adults and the students talked about defining moments in their lives and shared life lessons. Throughout the weekend, the campus was filled with the synergy of families working on their growth. Those who could not join us in person connected virtually from around the world.
When participants were asked about lessons learned from the weekend, their comments included:
"I learned more about my father and his life this weekend."
"I saw all of the students helping each other here, and it truly is like a family."
"While my parents were not here, I still connected with them and gained more insight into our family."
Thank you all for an inspiring Spring Family Weekend. We hope to see you all at Graduation on May 24th, 2025.
