This past week, we welcomed families onto campus for Hyde's Spring Family Weekend. Along with many of the usual activities, Hyde's traditions involve bringing together all of our community - families, students, and faculty - to create a shared learning atmosphere. A few highlights included:
-
Academic classes
-
Athletic contests
-
Family seminars
-
Panel discussions
-
Performing arts
Our theme for the weekend was "Destiny - Each of us is gifted with a unique potential." Participants were asked to describe a vision that they have for their life, what moves them toward this vision, and challenges for each family member.
During the Saturday morning community meeting, students, parents, and faculty spoke during a panel discussion answering the following questions:
-
What was a defining moment in your life and how did it shape your destiny?
-
Who in your life believed in your best?
Throughout the weekend, the campus was filled with the synergy of families working on their growth, as well as those who could not join us connected virtually from across the world.
When asked about lessons learned from the weekend, comments included:
I also want to extend my gratitude to those who have generously contributed gifts and pledged to support our Parents Fund. It was exciting to announce that we've reached a remarkable 96% benchmark with our fall families. Thank you as well to our newer parents and international parents who have demonstrated their support. I know we will finish strong by June 30th.
Thank you all for an inspiring Spring Family Weekend. We hope to see you all at Graduation May 25th.
