From the head

In Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book", there is a powerful line which says:

"For the Strength of the Pack is the Wolf and the Strength of the Wolf is the Pack." This line sums up much of the Hyde educational process. Each individual is gifted with a unique potential, and that is the foundation of our learning. The collective strength of this whole is also equally important. No one reaches their greatness without the help of others.

Students in the Wolfpack Council were asked to sum up what they/we learned during the winter term. Their answers showed the strong themes that resonate with this quote:

"I learned to be mentally tough, stay strong, and work together. I guess that is the definition of synergy."

"Winter has shown each of our strengths and setbacks."

"The winter term brought the Brookhouse dorm together. Leaders came out of nowhere and we formed a bond."

"During this winter term, I learned how to manage my time."

"Even in the tough weather, I saw many people find the motivation to be better."

"During the winter ups and downs, we never gave up - we went through the negative to find the positive."

"We had high spirits at times this term, dropped our motivation at other times, but in the end, we worked together to achieve our goals."

"I learned how to face and overcome challenges on the team and also how to be around students from around the world."

"I saw a lot of my friends do great things in swimming and classes and it inspired me to be my best."

"I was inspired by the female wrestlers."

"I learned how to speak up this term. I am no longer afraid to say the wrong thing."

" It is all about the self and the group. Each one is important."
