From the head

Over the last few years, we have been working on Hyde's future direction. In addition to discussions with our Board of Governors, we have engaged with our constituents; students, faculty, and staff have all shared their thoughts on our mission and our vision for the future. Last spring, we engaged a consultant to conduct an insight study on our families and parents to understand our strengths and areas of development. In addition, our alumni board has worked with the alumni body to understand the long-term value of a Hyde education.

This spring, the Strategic Planning Committee of our Board of Trustees set out to create a focused three-year roadmap for Hyde School. I am excited to share the heart of that plan with you - our families, alumni, and community - because your partnership is central to everything we are building.

Mission:
Hyde School is a small school built on a bold vision with an entrepreneurial spirit. It is a place where students and families work side by side to reveal character, strengthen life skills, and gain the confidence to realize their unique potential. School may be designed for students, but at Hyde, the family grows together.

Vision:
By placing character at the heart of everything we do, we equip students to succeed not only in school but also to navigate life with courage and integrity. We provide a structured, supportive, and proven model that develops the whole person. We partner closely with families because real growth does not happen in isolation; it happens in community. We aim to model an approach that can transform education for generations to come.

Four Pillars of Our Strategic Plan

Over the next twelve to thirty-six months, we will focus our energy and resources on four areas:

People:  Attract, develop, and retain the people who make Hyde extraordinary.
We are investing in our faculty, staff, and alumni community - building clear pathways for growth, strengthening compensation, and activating HAPA (the Hyde Alumni Parent Association) as a vibrant, lifelong network.

Program: Deliver a first-in-class integrated program that develops the whole person.
We will deepen the integration of academics, arts, athletics, and entrepreneurship into a coherent Hyde Experience while utilizing our Maine setting - and sharpen how we communicate student growth to families and colleges alike.

Place: Invest in our campus to complement the ambition of our program.
We will execute a thoughtful campus master plan that ensures that our physical environment in Bath supports safe, inspired learning for years to come.

Financial Plan:  Chart a clear path to financial long-term sustainability.
Through disciplined enrollment growth and increased fundraising, we will build a financial foundation that allows us to invest in people, programs, and the place without compromise.
While we have already had many robust conversations, we continue to hear from our school community. Your voice matters, and we hope you will join the conversation with your own thoughts.

If something in this plan resonates with you or if you have questions, ideas, or feedback, I would love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to reach out. This is our school, and the best version of this plan will be developed as we work together.
