Position Overview
Hyde School seeks a full-time Mathematics Teacher to focus on foundational and early mathematics instruction, supporting students as they strengthen core skills and build mathematical confidence. This position is ideal for a recent college graduate or early-career educator who enjoys working closely with students, providing individualized guidance, and helping learners develop fluency in essential mathematical concepts.
This role complements a senior department mentor and includes structured coaching, professional development, and collaborative planning to support growth as an educator.
Teaching & Support Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach foundational mathematics courses such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and College Mathematics–style courses designed to reinforce essential skills
- Provide small-group and individualized instruction to support varied levels of mathematical readiness
- Emphasize conceptual understanding, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical confidence
- Use formative assessment to identify learning gaps and track student growth
- Support students in developing effective study habits and persistence in mathematics
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong background in foundational mathematics (Pre-Algebra through Precalculus)
- Interest in learning support, tutoring, and individualized instruction
- Comfort working with students from diverse academic backgrounds and confidence levels
- Desire to grow as an educator through mentorship and feedback
- Interest in applied mathematics, data literacy, or real-world problem-solving
- Alignment with Hyde School’s mission of character-centered, relational education
Teaching experience is welcome but not required; strong content knowledge, patience, and a growth mindset are essential. Coaching experience in athletics, outdoor education, or student activities is also preferred.

In this position, you will be provided with housing and a dorm parent stipend if serving in this role.
Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
