Pam Hardy is the director of programs and training for The Biggest Job®, the family and community-building program for Hyde Schools and for communities throughout the country. Pam presents The Biggest Job® workshops, as well as develops and supervises training for workshop facilitators who deliver the 10 Priorities-the ten core beliefs that comprise the philosophy of The Biggest Job® -to parents, schools, corporations, and communities.
In addition to her responsibilities as director and a presenter, Pam is also the operations manager, overseeing all program activity and external events including marketing, public relations, planning, scheduling, and organization of workshops. In 1993, she adapted the boarding school family program for public schools and founded the Family Education Program at Hyde Leadership School of Greater New Haven, located in New Haven, Connecticut. The public school model includes neighborhood parent groups, leadership parent development, and retreats for students and their parents.
Founded by Laura Gauld in 1998, The Biggest Job® workshops offer practical ideas on how to raise strong children of exceptional character. A book, The Biggest Job® We’ll Ever Have: Find the Right Balance Between Character and Achievement for Your Child,, written by Laura and Malcolm Gauld (Scribner), serves as an adjunct to the program, offering a detailed description of the 10 Priorities, real stories from families who have applied them, and exercises to help families continue to develop their fullest potential.
Pam’s involvement with Hyde began in 1987 when her son enrolled as a student at Hyde School, located in Bath, Maine. After her son and family graduated, she worked as a facilitator during Family Weekends and regional retreats. She has experience as a grief counselor at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY, a palliative care hospital for terminal cancer patients, and as a counselor for individuals and families at the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services in New York City. In addition to being a workshop presenter, Pam oversees all the parent regions for the Hyde boarding campuses, and trains the regional leaders.
A native of Clarion, Pennsylvania, Pam attended Juniata College and earned a B.A. in French. She went on to Columbia University, where she received a Master’s in clinical social work. She has lived in Australia, Brazil, and Europe. She and her husband reside in Denver, and are parents to two adult sons.
