Omar Harris ´14, “Paul Hurd made me respect him because he was brutally honest with what he saw in me.”

Last week we caught up with Omar Harris ´14 from Queens, NY. Omar just graduated college and we are fortunate enough to have him back on Campus working as an intern in the Deans Area. We’re so excited to see where this internship catapults you Omar, keep up the great work!

Describe your career path:
“I plan on working in the marketing field as a creative director for professional sports team.”

Which word or principle has stayed with you the most?
“Conscience. The meaning of that word stuck with me after graduating from Hyde, in the sense of being honest with myself. I’ve learned to practice staying true to my values and self-worth.”

Which teacher(s) had a particular impact?
“I have the most respect for Paul Hurd. I was a stubborn student. Paul made me respect him because he was brutally honest with what he saw in me, the good and the bad.”

What advice might you give to a Hyde student?
“Do you have morals and values that you live by? Take the same energy you put into your values and morals and apply it to Hyde’s ethics and principles.”
