Wolfpack JV Football Fights Hard, Falls to PA Ravens 6-26

Hyde School J.V. Football vs. Portsmouth Abbey

Hyde School 6
Portsmouth Abbey 26

Hyde Junior Varsity football faced off against an impressive Portsmouth Abbey squad yesterday. The Wolfpack fell behind early, as the Ravens recovered their own kickoff in the red-zone and quickly converted to an 8-0 lead.

Hyde put on a show for the remainder of the first half, forcing multiple turnovers and defensive stops. The wolf pack moved the ball up and down the field at will, culminating in a 5-yard touchdown run by standout sophomore Sean Duffy ‘18.

Hyde would not be able to find its rhythm in the second half. Offensively, the wolfpack struggled to move the ball and gave up costly turnovers. Defensively, the Portsmouth Abbey air attack outmatched the blue and gold’s secondary. Special teams once again struggled to prevent big plays. The Ravens bested the Wolf Pack 26-6.

A number of strong individual performances made the trek to Portsmouth worthwhile. Quarterback Sean Duffy ’18 continued to shine on both sides of the ball, registering the only Hyde score and making a number of big plays on defense. At the line, Jake Dickerson ’16 and Devin Peterson ’16 won their respective match-ups all day long. Freshman Quentin Felder ’19 made a number of impressive catches. In his first carry of the season Miles Li ’17 made a gain of 10 yards. Daniel Murray ’18 made a number of impressive tackles.

Despite the loss, the Wolf Pack had much to be proud of. They will take the field against St. George’s school in Newport, RI on 10/14.
