Bath Athletics

Welcome to the Hyde – Bath Athletics site and the 2011-2012 winter season.

At Hyde, our athletic curriculum is an integral part of our overall philosophy. All students are expected to play sports in three seasons, and they are expected to play them to their very best ability. Sports provide an avenue for the practiced athlete to realize their dreams of a championship, but also a place for the less experienced to learn confidence and be provided with feedback on a very immediate basis.

As the weather outside gets colder outside, we are turning up the heat in the gym, pool, wrestling room and theatre.

Men’s Basketball has a new face in Coach Peter Rowe, and an old face in returning JV Coach Will Beckham. They kicked things off at home with the James Roman tournament, and are looking to make a run into the Maine Principle’s Association Tournament in February.

Women’s Basketball is coached by third year coach Eva George and assisted by the new addition of Jen Morse. They started their season at Kents Hill School at a tournament honoring Aleigh Mills. Lead by some returning seniors, they too are looking to make a run at the tournament in February.

Wrestling has grown in numbers both in athletes and in coaches. Peter Gregory joins long time Coach Logan Kidwell and Jesse Sataloff as a member of the staff. Peter will be heading up the newly formed JV squad. Wrestling is looking to take their season to the next level behind the leadership of some returning seniors.

Swimming is coached by Baxter Bullock who moved from assistant coach to head coach this winter. He is helped by Scott Middleton, a new addition to the program. With a young core of swimmers and an international flair, swimming looks to improve their times throughout the course of the winter and post some qualifying times for the state meet in February.

Indoor track found a real boost in joining a Maine Principal’s Association League. Headed by long-time Hyde track coach Ken Grant, the team is bent on sharpening skills and turning in good times and distances in hopes of qualifying for the state meet in February.

Dance is returning both coaches from last year (Mukhaye Muchimuti and Fan Luo) and some experienced dancers to the group. With an inspired start, dance should take on new life this winter. They have plans for their typical performance near the end of the winter season, but also some dance exchanges with area high schools.

Go Phoenix!
