Hyde’s signature character development program for teenagers ages 13-18. This program blends thrilling outdoor experiences with a dynamic leadership and character development program.   • 7:30 AM: “Don’t Stay in Bed, unless you can make money in bed.” (G. Burns)
    Wake-Up
  • 8:00 AM: “The Difference Between Involvement and Commitment is like an Eggs-and-Ham Breakfast—the chicken was involved; the pig was committed.” (unknown)
    Breakfast: Eggs and bacon, cereal and fruit and made–to–order : waffles!
  • 9:00 AM: “A People that Values its Privileges Above Its Principles soon loses both.” (D. D. Eisenhower)
    Morning meeting: “Leader of the day” runs the meeting; discusses something he/she learned from the prior day’s events and teaching moments, and runs down the schedule for the day.
  • 9:30 AM: “Try to Learn Something About Everything and everything about something.” (T. H. Huxley)
    Class: “Freedom and Responsibility” A unique, hands–on academic experience aimed at inspiring students to engage in subject matter and “learn how to learn.”
  • 11:00 AM: “When You Do the Common Things in Life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.” (G.W. Carver)
    Community service project
  • 12:00 PM: “Ask Not What You Can Do for Your Country. Ask What’s for Lunch.” (O. Welles)
    Lunch: Turkey sandwiches, potato salad, fruit and salad bar
  • 12:35 PM: “Whistle While You Work. Put on that grin and start right in…. (L. Morey)
    Dish Crew! Work with five friends to clean up from lunch.

    Performing Arts—Rehearsal for Family Weekend performance
  • 2:30 PM: “A Friend Is Someone Who Sees Through You and still enjoys the view.” (W. Askinas)
    Discovery Group Challenges on the High Ropes Course: intellectual, : physical, and social challenges lead to group bonding and FUN!
  • 3:30 PM: “We Didn’t Lose the Game; we just ran out of time.” (V. Lombardi)
    Sports: Soccer, Basketball and Wrestling…Learn basic skills, work on : your game with veteran coaches, compete…and everyone is involved!
  • 6:00 PM: “All Great Change in America begins at the dinner table.” (R. Reagan)
    Dinner: Eating family-style, lasagna, French bread, ice cream sundaes
  • 7:30 PM:  “Success Usually Comes to Those Who Are too busy looking for it.” (H.D. Thoreau)

    Free-time to socialize and catch up on the day

  • Four-day hiking and canoeing trip to northern Maine, where you and your friends learn about yourselves and your ability to lead through helping others.
  • High- and low-ropes course, where thrill, excitement, and butterflies in your stomach meet, shake hands, and motivate you to reach beyond your grasp.
  • Beach trip, where three rivers meet the Atlantic and offer you, in their profound beauty, the meaning of true depth.
  • Community service projects, where you and your friends learn about yourselves and your ability to lead through helping others.
