Won Ho Chang Bath ‘10
Won Ho, who is from Seoul, South Korea, has been at Hyde for three years. He is an excellent student who is studying advanced math and science courses this year. Won Ho qualified for the Korean Olympic trials in the YMCA long course national competition last July. This year, he has set records in the Maine State High School Swim Competition, for which he had qualified for every single event. In the New England Competition he swam a blisteringly fast 49.94 seconds in the 100 yard butterfly, his specialty. Won Ho’s time was fast enough to set a University of New Hampshire pool record and New England record.
Won Ho aspires to become a dentist and will study the necessary science subjects at Bates College in Maine, where he will swim for Coach Peter Casares.
Hailun Ni Bath ‘10
Hailun came to Hyde School in Bath from Shenzhen,China, in her sophomore year. Hailun was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa Award her junior year and she has maintained consistently outstanding grades in her academics and on her standardized testing. She has been a member of the Coastal Chamber Orchestra in Maine for the past two years and she has performed flute solos in the Bath campus annual Cultural Heritage Celebrations. Hailun has actively participated in sports; her junior year, Hailun was named MIP of cross-country, and she learned how to dribble a basketball and wield a lacrosse stick. Her senior year Hailun was named co-captain of the girls basketball team!
Hailun has been accepted to Stanford in California, early action and also ULCA, and she is waiting to hear from several Ivies. She plans to study business and expects to pursue an MBA.
Haitong Liao Bath ‘10
Haitlong, whose English name is Athena, is a member of the Class of 2010. She came to Hyde last year from Shenzhen, China. Athena works very diligently at her studies and enjoys her honors biology class. Last summer, while at home, she worked for two weeks in Peking University Hospital as a noviate student nurse in the emergency and operating rooms and received a certificate for her outstanding services there. This past fall, although never a runner, she joined the cross country team and was named MIP for her marvelous progress. A talented dancer, she is part of Hyde-Bath’s dance group; Athena also plays the cello.
