Admission

As parents, we have only a few indicators to alert us to when our teenagers may be falling behind in school—slipping grades, lack of focus, avoidance of responsibilities, or a general sense of disconnectedness. The question of what to do when parents recognize these signs does not always come with an easy-to-find answer. We offer one solution to families in search of a school that helps teenagers take responsibility for their own learning and sets them on a path toward their highest potential. At Hyde School, we believe there is a leader is every student, and it’s our job to help your teenager discover this.

It’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to plug into for the upcoming summer. In fact, we already know what we’re doing. JOIN US!

If you visit campus, you may get SEVEN5 fingers and 2 eyes. That’s a hand shake and eye contact…. We believe that beneath every rebel spirit lies a true leader capable of reaching amazing heights. Hyde fosters the transition from rebel to leader. We’re not an ordinary boarding school. Founded by a rebel teacher in 1966, we focus on attitudes and provide students with a character curriculum that will best prepare them for college, and life beyond. Below are not-so-uncommon sights at our boarding schools:

  • Students leading classes
  • Parents and teachers balancing on a wire 50 feet high in the air
  • Students evaluating the faculty…LIVE…from Bath, Maine and Woodstock, Connecticut
  • Students raking leaves…and learning something at the same time

If you’re looking for a boarding school that knows how to prepare students for life and–of course–college–Hyde Schools is where it’s at. Our rigorous curriculum teaches teenagers to focus on:

  • Effort over Achievement: achievement is important, but effort and the right attitude leads to achievement.
  • Attitude over Aptitude: with a curious mind and a positive attitude, learning comes naturally.
  • Character over Talent: without strong character, talent will only take you so far.

“At Hyde our daughter has been academically challenged and has begun to reach her academic potential. The academic offerings are varied, rigorous, and individually tailored to meet the learning needs and styles of each student. Our daughter is excited to enter the college application process and we are confident she will have many great options.”
