Realizing Their Potential To Lead
The State of Connecticut enjoys a history steeped in leadership. The “Constitution State” has given rise to individual leaders who helped shape Industry, Politics, Culture, Finance, and even the foundation of The United States of America itself. Connecticut is still home to countless leaders, entrepreneurs, mentors and mavericks. Hyde School is founded on the idea that Character matters most in education and that developing character is synonymous with developing leaders. Becoming a leader means developing self-awareness, the presence to speak and the grit to stay resilient in the face of difficult challenges.
Through the Connecticut State Leadership Alliance students from throughout the state are challenged to learn, connect and collaborate in an effort to grow beyond their “comfort zones” and realize their own potential to lead. With the support of mentors, community leaders, organizations and most importantly their peers, members of the Connecticut State Leadership Alliance gain the experience, skills and core strengths to make an impact in their communities.
The Connecticut Youth Leadership Day
On May 16, 2016 Hyde School in Woodstock, Connecticut will host the first annual Connecticut Youth Leadership Conference. The focus of the day will be on the importance and challenges of character and the practice of leadership. The day is designed to connect students from around the state with one another as well as with community and business leaders in an effort to inspire students to develop a heightened sense of responsibility and confidence as leaders and difference makers.
The day will begin with a keynote presentation (TBA), followed by a morning full of workshops led by student, business and community leaders. Lunch will follow and the event will finish with everyone meeting together for a student-led panel discussion.
