Woodstock, CT–Hyde School in Woodstock, CT, held its official naming and dedication ceremony for its new track and field facility on Friday, November 6, with students, faculty, and board of governors in attendance. This marks the next step in the campus beautification process that has begun to spread across the Hyde campus.
The construction of this state-of-the-art outdoor complex was made possible by generous donations during the Hyde @ 40 Campaign and from Robert and Anne Krebs, whose many contributions over the years have helped bring a higher sense of pride and accomplishment to Hyde’s athletics program. The Krebs Family Gymnasium, built in 1998, is already the home of the 2008 New England Men’s Basketball Champions banner as well as several others.
Ken and Claire Grant, the first Head of School when the Hyde-Woodstock campus first opened its doors to students in 1996, were honored by having the new complex named Grant Track and Field.
Ken Grant is also remembered by President Malcolm Gauld as one of the premiere Cross Country runners to ever grace a Hyde campus.
The Grants said about the honor:
“It’s really a deep honor to be remembered in this way and it’s truly very exciting to see the growth of this campus. The Woodstock campus couldn’t have been started at all without the dedicated faculty we had at our side, and it was definitely a group effort. I sincerely want to thank Rob and Anne Krebs for all they’ve done for the school and they truly are a gift to us all. They both continue to strengthen the Hyde community.”
